This pleasant tour on Cabbage Patch and Mattley roads climbs gradually but continuously up to its highest point. When conditions are good, advancing beginners will find the return descent exciting.
This is also the beginning of two more interesting tours: the Mattley Ridge tour and the Mattley Ridge and Horse Gulch tour. Both take you up onto the ridge to the north. An even grander tour is the Ridge Loop tour that ends with a descent of the tour described here.
