Description   Link to more information about description

Named by locals, Rabbit Ridge is the ridge east of the route to Forestdale Creek and it offers strong intermediate skiers a birds-eye-view of the area. The ridge provides an alternative route for returning from Forestdale Creek to the trailhead.

Ski along Rabbit Ridge to treat yourself to spectacular views where you can familiarize yourself with the lay-of-the-land. But before setting out be aware that the ridge is windswept and often you will find bare portions that will require you to walk along the top of the ridge. But the views make the inconvenience worthwhile.

The route described here passes near some and crosses other private lands. Please respect their rights; stay out of areas marked no trespassing and absolutely stay away from private buildings.

The entire Forestdale Creek drainage, including Forestdale Creek Road, is closed to snowmobile use during most of the winter-spring months since February 2008. This is the result of the Alpine County Winter Recreation Project and the ceaseless efforts of the volunteers of Snowlands Network and other organizations.
